Monday, September 15, the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA) honored Thalía with the recognition of “2008 HOLA Ilka Award”, for her humanitarian service, in the Novena Gala Annual de Premios y Beneficiencia. The “Ilka Award”, in honor to Ilka Tanya Payán, founder of HOLA, has been granted in previous occasions to recognized Latin personalities like Danny Rivera, Rosie Pérez, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Esaí Morales, Antonio Bandera, Alfred Molina, Mercedes Ruehl and Sarita Montiel, among others. This year, besides Thalía, also was recognized the actor John Leguizamo. Thalía could not appear to receive the recognition in person and in its place the Horacio “El Pelón” Ontiveros, who participates with Thalía every week in her radio program “Conexión Thalía”. Thalía give us the following message:
“Due to health questions I could not be present in the Novena Gala Annual of HOLA. I am very thankful by the recognition that I received from this organization and I hope that it serves as inspiration to make this world to help to our fellow and give him hands that needs it.
